Species Status Assessment & Technical Support for the Dunes Sagebrush Lizard

In 2020, NRS was contracted by American Conservation Foundation (ACF) upon transfer of an Endangered Species Act (ESA) Section 10 Permit for the Dunes Sagebrush Lizard (DSL) from the Texas Comptroller to ACF. NRS coordinated with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) to provide the DSL Species Status Assessment (SSA) Working Group with the best available scientific information concerning the species’ threats. NRS led discussions and negotiations with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) and managed a large stakeholder group during this conservation plan development. The plan for the DSL is still in operation today. The NRS team has provided scientific, policy, and technical analysis.
